Can Filipinos get Skin Cancer?
A common myth is that Asians and brown skinned people like Filipinos don't get skin cancer.
This is just not true.
While Filipinos are less likely to develop cancer of the skin compared to caucasians, it is still quite common compared to other types.
An annual full body skin exam by a dermatologist well-trained in identifying and managing skin lesions and cancer is recommended. This means getting your check-up with one who is board-certified.
